Whitey's moved to the corner of the square on the west side after originally being about four blocks down on the same street, in order to enhance their profit margins. When Whitey's first started the original owner Whitey Thwaite started with just military surplus from World War II to get started because of the relative cheapness of which he could get the merchandise from the government. From this Whitey Thwaite actually was able to save the tax payers in way so that they would not need to pay for the old World War II equipment to be replace. Also, creating a thriving business.
